Parent Training Series (Broward)

UM-NSU CARD in collaboration with Florida Network of Disabilities (FND) invite parents of school-aged children to join us for a two-part training series.

Morning and evening sessions offered for parent convenience!

Event Description:  

Part I: Collaborative Communication Skills

Parent-Teacher conferences provide the perfect opportunity to build and strengthen the relationships between parents and teachers. Communication is an essential component to your child’s academic success. This training provides a great framework for building effective, collaborative relationships between parents, teachers and faculty. These strategies can be utilized within all meeting settings where we are supporting our children of all ages. 

Part II: IEP Binder “Make and Take”

Developing and implementing an IEP (Individual Education Plan) is the equal responsibility of educators, parents, and other members of the IEP team. This workshop explains the IEP process and the importance of parental participation. Learn helpful tips for writing effective IEP goals and strategies. We also touch on how to create an “electronic binder” with Google Drive.

The Presenter:  Ally Walford is the Program Director of PEN (Parent Education Network), a program with in the FND Family. FND is a grassroots organization for persons with disabilities and their families what is family-centered and family-driven.
